VMC (Vertical Machining) To be an industry leader, a company has to be willing to follow the lead of technology as it continues to evolve and pave the way for advances in power, precision, and production. MPTD is a company that has made incredible leaps in technology for the future of the business and for the benefit of its customers. One area where this has been a benefit is in the Vertical Machining area, VMC. A multitude of updates and upgrades in the last decade have allowed for increased productivity and reduction in run times. The use of production mills increases productivity for high volume runs. The pallet changers assist in decreasing setup and changeover times due to the rapidity of exchanging pallets during production runs. Vacuum plates allow for multiple parts to run on a single setup. There are a variety of machines with varying capabilities depending on the production need and the complexity of the part. The area employs standard 3 axis milling machines. They utilize the 4 axis machines, like the Hwacheon Sirius II Production Mills. And now, even more exciting, is the addition of the 5 axis Hermle Vertical Mill. So no matter the intricacy of the tool, MPTD has the machinery to handle it. MPTD utilizes 3R fixtures in many of its applications. This allows the part to stay on the same 3R fixture throughout the entire process, start to finish. It alleviates some of the potential issues with accuracy because the part is fused to the same fixture. The VMC group has the capability of working with a variety of materials:
plastics, titanium, brass, copper, molly, etc. The flexibility and
adaptability of the machines allows them to work with just about any material
necessary to suit the needs of the customer. And, the machinists are
highly skilled and trained to work with those materials to make any project
successful. Current Machine Capabilities
