Jig Grinding

Tucked away in their own little corner of the building, the jig grinding area is a small but vital section of the business.  This three-man team takes pride in their ability to squeeze those tight tolerances when grinding holes and profiles.   Anyone can bore a hole into a piece of soft metal.  But it takes a skilled craftsman to perfect it and bring it within specification.  That's their take on it, anyway.

The jig grinding team works with some of the most state of the art equipment.  The Moore CPZ Grinder is a five-axis CNC machine.  Its capabilities are numerous, with accurate depth controls, bottom grinding, taper grinding, wipe grinding, and limited three-dimensional grinding operations.  With their tools and equipment in the jig grinding area, they have the capability to control bottom depths to .0004".  3R tooling has also helped to reduce setup time and make turnaround more efficient in certain applications.

According to Ryan, a jig grinder who has worked at Midwest Precision for eleven years, having people specialized in specific areas helps MPT&D produce very high quality parts on short lead times.   Each individual is able to build their skill and craft to a level of expertise where quality is built into every process and every component manufactured.
